We Don’t Just Allow Dogs, We Welcome Them

At Carolina Furnished Rentals (CFR), we understand that during a fire, flood, or relocation, your dog is your emotional support system. Separation is not an option.

While hotels often impose strict weight limits (e.g., “Under 25 lbs”) and apartments lack outdoor space, CFR offers selected single-family homes with fenced yards. Adjusters and families can confirm pet rules and yard features for the exact home before booking.

Eligibility & Restrictions

Do you allow cats?

Generally, No. Due to severe allergies among future guests (including medical patients with compromised immune systems), most of our homes are Dogs Only.

Exception: In rare cases for long-term Extended Stays (90+ days), we may approve a cat with an additional deep-cleaning fee. This must be approved in writing prior to booking.

Are there weight limits for dogs?

No. Unlike hotels that cap weight at 25–40 lbs, we welcome large breeds.

Whether you have a Golden Retriever, a Lab, or a Great Dane, they are welcome as long as they are house-trained and well-behaved.

Are there breed restrictions?

Yes. Because we carry specialized liability insurance for short-term rentals, we must adhere to standard insurance breed restrictions.

  • Prohibited Breeds: Typically includes Pit Bulls, Rottweilers, Dobermans, and Chows (unless they are certified Service Animals under the ADA).

Note for Insurance Claims: If you are a Displaced Family with a restricted breed, please contact us directly. We may be able to petition for a specific exception depending on the property owner’s individual policy.

Do Your Homes Have Fenced Yards?

Yes, most of them do. This is our biggest advantage over an apartment or hotel.

Private Space

You don’t have to walk your dog on a leash in a parking lot at 11 PM. You can simply open the back door.

Fence checks

We inspect and maintain listed fences, but no enclosure is escape-proof. Guests must inspect the yard on arrival and supervise pets at all times.

Tip

Look for the “Fenced Yard” amenity filter when searching our properties in Cary, Apex, and Durham.

Fees & House Rules

Is There a Pet Fee?

Yes. We charge a Non-Refundable Pet Fee (per pet) rather than a high security deposit.

  • Why? This fee covers the additional wear and tear on the home and the rigorous “Deep Clean” required after you check out to remove dander for the next guest.
  • Cost: Fees vary by length of stay but are significantly lower than the daily “pet rent” charged by many hotels.

What are the Rules for Pets Inside the Home?

To maintain the “Hotel-Level Cleanliness” our founders demand, we ask for three things:

  1. Furniture: Please keep pets off the furniture and beds. If your dog is used to sleeping on the bed, please bring your own protective linens/blankets.
  2. Crates: We highly recommend crating your dog when you are not at the home to prevent anxiety-related damage.
  3. Waste: You must pick up after your dog in the yard. (Landscapers will not mow if there is waste).

Service Animals

What is your policy on Service Animals?

We strictly adhere to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Service Animals specifically trained to aid a person with a disability are not pets and are exempt from pet fees and breed restrictions.

Note: Emotional Support Animals (ESAs) are not classified as Service Animals under the ADA or North Carolina law for short-term rentals and are subject to standard pet fees and rules.
